Sarah and Patrick’s Wedding | Thomas Arms Hotel | Llanelli, South Wales
Thomas Arms Hotel
I’ve been looking forward to shooting a wedding at Thomas Arms Hotel in Llanelli for a while. And was honoured when I was asked to document Sarah and Patrick’s wedding at this Hotel.
Thomas Arms is situated in the heart of Llanelli, which is also just down the road from Parc Howard too, one of my favourite places for shooting lifestyle portraits.
Ceremony
Today, I had my wife Heidi assist me, I don’t usually work with assistants, nor second shooters, it was a pleasure to have Heidi with me for an extra pair of hands photographing the guests when I’m photographing details or the bride and groom etc. And to have someone to help me carry my lighting stands too!
We got to Thomas Arms Hotel in plenty of time, and had the opportunity to photograph the Groom’s and the guests arrival. And a lovely surprise, our Bride, Sarah was early, it’s a rare occurance when a Bride arrives early, fair play. She took the opportunity to go for a longer spin in the VW Campervan, yay!
Angles
Having a second shooter with me, it was a fantastic opportunity to get some different angles at the ceremony, as I try to be unobtrusive during this time. So Heidi hung out at the back whilst I photographed from the front. It was a beautiful ceremony, you could really see the love in the air between the Bride and Groom!
Outside
Guests were well behaved, it didn’t take long to gather everyone outside for group photos, so if any of the guests are reading thing, thanks for being so cooperative, we appreciate it! 🙂
All this was done outside the Thomas Arms, and on the road too, we had to stop traffic a few mtimes just to get everyone spreadout, judging by the beeping of horns from the passing raffic, I don’t think they minded at all! We certainly provided Jenkins Bakery staff some entertainment, they enjoyed watching from their shop window nearby 🙂
Parc Howard
All I’ve been doing is photographing in Parc Howard lately, although the last time was in Autumn and in the morning, now winter and in the afternoon, the light was completely different, so I photographed at different locations, this is one of the reasons why I never scout locations and venues. Sarah and Patrick were amazing, so happy and relaxed in front of mthe camera, they were a pleasure to photograph too, because they’re so close to each other, you can really see the love in the photos!
Evening
Once the funny speeches were over (which were not Googled!). We took the opportunity to get some more relaxed candid photographs of all the guests enjoying. On checking the weather, I found that it was raining, and with all the lights in town and the lights from the traffic, I just had to get Sarah and Patrick out on the main road for some romantic portraits! The wet floor made for some fantastic reflections which really sets the mood for the photo.
I’m sure you don’t want to hear me talk about this wedding anymore, and you’d rather see these awesome wedding photos, so here you go!
PS: If you were at a guest at a wedding, I’d love to hear what you think, you can leave ratings on Google here
