Destination Wedding Photographer
Destination Wedding Photographer, at last! So this was my first wedding overseas, and it happened to be in a country that I’ve always wanted to visit, Italy!
Travelling
I was staying in Verona, Italy for the duration of my stay in Italy, and after speaking to my fellow destination wedding photographers who have also photographed weddings at Malcesine Castle, it would be a lot easier to hire a car and drive up, especially with all the kit I have to carry with me.
I spent the day at Malcesine the day before, and took the opportunity to meet Hannah and Chris who were busy with the last bis of their wedding, so I just had to take a few photos whilst we had the incredible Lake Garda backdrop!
Malcesine
Wow, what an amazing little town this is, with so many quaint and quirky little places, it was going to be a walk in the park photographing a wedding here!
The Wedding Day
Driving up, and it was raining! Oh no! I also later learned, that Lake Garda had thunder and lightening in the morning too! But as I arrived, it had all cleared, and we had beautiful weather the rest of the day!
Hotel Castello Lake Front
Hannah got ready at Hotel Castello which was situated right on the lake front, it was lovely to see she was chilled and calm when I turned up. The hair and MUA did an outstanding job getting her ready for her wedding ceremony!
Scaliger Castle in Malcesine
Once our bride was all ready, it was time to hop into the tuk tuk and ride to Malcesine Castle, while I had to run up hills and through cobbled streets of Malcesine, I’m so glad I go to the gym every morning, I was so tired when I got to the Castle, I would have died if I didn’t go to the gym haha.
Ceremony
The ceremony at Malcesine Castle was absolutely gorgeous, not to mention the backdrop too! Usually, after the ceremony, the bride and groom exit the ‘room’, but Liz, the wedding planner mentioned to have photos up the top whilst we were there, result! Thanks Liz, if you’re reading this, not only did it make gathering groups easier, we also had an amazing background!
Ristorante La Pace Malcesine
Before heading off to La Pace Restaurant, we had a boat ride out onto the Lake for welcome drinks, big thanks to the accommodating usher who kept me hydrated!
Rock Cafe Pub
After the speeches and cake cutting, it was time to hit Rock Cafe Pub for some dancing!
