Beth and James | Barn at The Brynich Wedding
Strangely enough, this year, most of my weddings have been near Brecon, so I’ll rename myself as a Brecon Wedding Photographer temporarily! I was asked to document this gorgeous wedding for Beth and James at Barn at The Brynich. This was the first time I covered a wedding at Barn at The Brynich, I love shooting at new venues, not only do I get to visit new areas around Wales, but also the opportunity to get something different from other wedding photographers across Wales. Why? Because I try not to look at other wedding photographers’ work, so it lets me be unique, and a chance to shoot at new places that others’ haven’t thought of.
During the wedding consultation, I was told they wanted natural photos only. Now, a lot of my photos are posed to look natural, but they didn’t even want that, due to bad experience with a friends wedding photographer keeping them for hours for photos away from guests. That’s not really my style, I am conscious of time away from guests, so try to be as quick as I can. After the amazing ceremony, by the way, if you’re reading this James and Beth, the song you had walking down the aisle, was my first dance with my wife, so I had to wipe my tears away whilst photographing you walking down the aisle, Beth! 🙂 Anyway, after the ceremony, we had 10 minutes to spare, so we had a quick shoot around where we were, and had amazing results! As much as I wanted more time, because I love photography, they didn’t want any more.. so off it was to photograph some happy guests in the gardens.
I stayed until the speeches, which brought tears to my eyes again! But you should have heard their son’s speech, it was straight from the heart, and no Googling involved! My time was up after the speeches, and I did my best to steal 2 minutes from the couple for a photo upstairs (the above photo).
One more thing.. I was asked to produce my insurance certificate for this venue, which of course, I was more than happy to provide. I think all venues should be asking for proof of insurance, this not only protects the photographer, wedding venue and guests, but it also helps separate the one-off cheap wedding photographers who could potentially ruin your wedding photos, to the professional wedding photographers who make your wedding photos look spectacular.
